Published/Updated on:

1) I have zero background in Fashion, can I still join?

Yes, you certainly can! We will teach you from ground up! By the end of the 3–4 months, you will have the confidence to provide value in the role of a merchandiser/fashion designer, depending on your specialisation. You will gain the practical knowledge and skills needed to understand textiles & fabrics, fabric quality, Adobe Illustrator, making your very own apparel, understand sourcing, calculating cost and following-up orders, depending on your specialisation.

2) Is TaF.tc's 3–4-month diploma recognised by the industry?

TaF.tc has an international presence in over 15 countries today. We are an international training consultant to the United Nations, Garment Manufacturing Association of Cambodia (GMAC), Macy's, Louis Vuitton, Bottega, Li & Fung and more. Our diplomas are accredited on a national level, and the skills you are taught in the class can testify for them.

3) What if there is a 1-month window that I can’t make for the upcoming intake?

Diplomas in TaF.tc typically contain 15-18 modules. You can attempt to take the diploma module by module! This means you can choose to take the Diploma modules from 4 intakes within a year. We have a full-time intake in every quarter. With the exception of a higher application fee, there is no extra cost for doing the diploma on a module-by-module basis.

4) What are the graduation requirements?

There are two components. First, you have to achieve at least 75% of attendance on your training hours per module. Second, you have to attempt an assessment at the end of every module, and be deemed competent. You can attain either a “Competent” or a ‘Not Yet Competent' grading.

5) Can I miss one or two lessons?

For all our courses at TaF.tc, we highly discourage students from missing their classes as we do not offer any make-up or replacement classes. Our programmes are designed to be hands-on and activity-based. Missing classes means that you have to spend more time and effort in catching up with your peers, and it can be disruptive too. Do make sure you block out your training dates! You will only wish you had more time in class!

6) Isn’t 3–4 months a little too short?

Students will be put through a 500–600+ hours curriculum that runs from Mon- Fri, 8.30am — 6 pm. There will also be Saturday classes on some weekends. Time is of the essence today, and we're not going to sugar-coat it: the full-time diploma is designed to be intensive so that our students can gain access to key skills needed in an efficient manner, allowing them to maximise their potential. Much like this course, the industry is fast-paced and ever-changing,  and want to empower students with that momentum that will prepare them to be highly adaptable and confident in their new ventures after their studies with us. These courses are truly designed to impart in-demand industrial skills which are relevant to the industry.

7) What are the kind of jobs available in the industry?

The student can expect jobs as a junior fashion designer, merchandiser, sales floor specialist, fashion stylist and more. Students are encouraged to look for jobs on platforms such as Linkedin, Glassdoor, and even our careers page at TaF.tc. At the end of the course, our graduates can always reach out to our friendly career advisor at miriam@taftc.org.

8) What can I expect to accomplish by the end of the course?

Students will come out with 2–3 project deliverables that will serve as their portfolio pieces. Students will be taught how to use digital platforms such as Linkedin and Glassdoor, and will also be taught how to write a suitable resume. Gallup’s personality test is also made available to our students, so they can get to know themselves better.

9) Who are my trainers?

All our trainers have been carefully selected by our Chief Executive so that you have access to decades of professional expertise and knowledge. All trainers at TaF.tc must have at least 10 years of relevant industrial experience before teaching our professional diplomas.

10) Is there an age limit for our diplomas?

Not at all! In fact, we celebrate diversity at our school. We are an adult fashion school that believes strongly in continuous learning! On average, 50% of our students are aged 30 and below, while the rest are above 30.

11) Am I still eligible for funding if I drop out halfway?

You will not be eligible for the funding if you drop out halfway through the course, and will be liable to refund the SSG grants to TaF.tc.

12) Are there any additional funding options I can tap on?

We will advise you on the amount of course fee funding and the nett fee which you will have to pay. This is dependent on your eligibility and the course selected.
